Welcome to Château Masburel. We are situated in the South West of France, 80 km to the east of Bordeaux, on the river Dordogne near to the charming town of Ste Foy la Grande. Chateau Masburel was founded in 1740 by Jean de Sembellie, Consul to King Louis XV of France.
The property consists of 33 hectares (82 acres), of which 23 hectares (58 acres) are planted to vine. Red and white wines are produced to a standard that compares with the very finest French wines.
Chateau Masburel was bought by Olivia and Neil Donnan in 1997 and has benefited from extensive renovation. The main Chateau has been returned to its former glory of exposed stone and elegant courtyard. The winery boasts the most modern equipment. Between 1998 and 2003 over one third of the vineyard has been replanted with the best quality of classic grape varieties found in this famous and historic wine growing region of France.
